The fact about Shri Ram leaving his beloved pregnant wife, made him be known as a bad husband at a certain point in history. This choice has been one the hardest decision of the past. This article clears all the untrue stories behind it.
Deciding such a serious judgment involves three parts that are – Karta(The Doer), Karma(The act) and Neeyat(The intention) and niyati means Kismat. The Karta here is Shri Ram, his Karm is that he left alone Maa Sita in her most sensitive time, Neeyat is the intention behind his act of leaving her. To get a better idea, it can be understood by an example. Suppose Karma(an act of killing) takes place, one done by a soldier and another by a terrorist. Both of them will have different impacts as Neeyat of each will be different. One killed by a soldier(Karta) is for a valid reason while the terrorist(Karta) one would be wrong and terrible.

The way that Shri Ram picked to go on in his life:
Shri Ram is known as the first God and King in the whole world. He is the first person to promise his wife that he would never look upon another woman with corrupt thoughts. This was really great because the belief of polygamy allows men to keep more than one wife even today. He took this step thousand years back when the trend of keeping more than one wife was very common. His Father Raja Dasharatha had four wives himself. Shri Ram is credited to understand the pain of women when they had to share their husbands. Such wives received lesser love, care and respect than promised by their husband.
His Father Raja Dasharatha had four wives himself. Shri Ram is credited to understand the pain of women when they had to share their husbands. Such wives received lesser love, care and respect than promised by their husband.
This promise was the beginning of their true life-long relationship sharing the love and respect for each other. For a woman, nothing is bigger than a promise, that her Husband will only be her entire life. This becomes one of the reasons why Maaa Sita went with Shri Ram to Vanvas(An exile). He filled her world and the
He filled her world, and the pleasure’s of comfortable life were nothing over her partnership with her husband.
The cunning plan Ravana(King of Lanka) made:
They lived a happy life together during their Vanvas. Shri Ram provided her with all comforts a woman needed as he really wanted her happiness. One single day Maa Sita saw a beautiful golden deer in the forest itself, “What a beauty” she said. She wanted that deer and her husband who was a God, himself ran behind it to catch it for his beloved wife. He laid the safety of his wife in the hands or his brother Lakshman when he was out at search. This shows though he was acting in love but still had the concern to make sure his wife was safe. Mata Sita turned worried and sent Lakshman to search for his brother.
Lakshman drew a line and asked her not to cross it under any situation and he went. The line is called LakshmanRekha which was made for her safety. None apart from those three could cross it anyhow. After Lakshman went, a guest in form of a Deva came near the house and asked Maa Sita for charity. She was picking flowers at that time. Being a kind and caring Lady she without noticing the line went ahead and offered him the needful.
Ram Rajya and Ravana defeat
Deva was Ravana(Rakshasa King) in disguise and the very moment he kidnapped her in his Pushpaka Vimana. This was the first time in life when Shri Ram got very worried and cried. The man who didn’t felt any bad leaving a Kingdom behind accepting the words of king Dasharatha, his Father. Shri Ram who was the only one on Earth who did not tie Shivji’s bow but broke it. At that time was on his knees praying like a normal Human being, because he heartedly loved her.
Such suffering and pain can only be experienced by the one who loves truly. He got ready to take the most powerful person of his time, in the world in his own backyard. Taking support of the Vanar-sena, he was able to defeat mighty Ravana(who till date is known as greatest Pandit). He was too powerful that whole of the Navgrahas was fully under the control of him. He Gifted the Lanka which he had honestly won to Vibhishan saying, “JananiJanma-Bhoomi-scha Swargadapi Gariyasi” which means “Mother and Motherland are superior to heaven”; this explains that he was not in a thought of being a King only of the land. Struggling and fighting, finally, Shri Ram freed Mata Sita.
After saving he not even questioned her for once that “Why did you cross the LakshmanRekha?”. He didn’t ask her because he knew how much pain Mata Sita would have experienced in Ashok Vatika( the wanted to place where she was kept in Lanka) and huge faith and control she showed towards her husband when Ravan used all kinds of tricks to scare her. Her husband want-to load her wife with sorrow, he wanted to calm her because she was his love. On coming back Shri Ram became the democratic King of Ayodhya(certainly by people’s choice) to set up the Ram Rajya.
Unluckily, some of the people in this time question the purity of Mata Sita during those days. This injured Shri Ram’s feelings totally, because he believed in the fact “Na Bhitosmi Maranaadapikevalamdushitoyashah”, I fear Dishonour more than death. Due to his belief at last Shri Ram was left with two options. The first was – To be considered a great man and keep Mata Sita with him, but this way he would not be able to stop people from questioning the purity of Mata Sita.
Mata Sita through Agnee-Pariksha
The second was- To be considered a bad husband and put Mata Sita through Agnee-Pariksha making a guarantee that no questions would ever be raised on the holiness of Mata Sita in future. He carried on with option two, it was not easy for him to do that yet he did his for his wife. This way he managed to remove Mata Sita’s character. And he marked it that no one ever in future would think to question his wife. For that Husband the honour of his wife was most important than his being referred a “good husband”.
The honour of his wife was above his crown for him. That decision of Shri Ram is the reason for why up till this time , there is not a single person who her questions character.
Shri Ram went through the pain equal to Mata Sita during their period of separation. It would be very trouble-free for him if he would marry another women and make a family. But being loyal towards the promise he made to his wife he didn’t even thought to marry. In fact, he chose to stay away from the person he loved the most and his children too. The sacrifices that Shri Ram and Maa Sita made are incomparable. The unending love and respect their relationship had is most noteworthy, and shall ever be remembered in history.
